ARTIST MULTIPLE. Wonderful issue from this series of Artist boxes which were issued by Johannes Cladders of the Monchengladbach Museum in Germany from the late 1960's to the mid 1970's. The size of the box was instigated by Cladders
but every invited artist could use the space within to their
own specification. They were usually offered a box when they had a show on in the museum as in this case. This box has a
Perspex cover with a white card bottom and then within is a length of white linen folded into the shape of the box which when opened out made a simple sculpture of white linen cubes
lined up with eachother. - short text is printed on the first fold of the piece... the whole piece extends to 400cm by 16 cm when opened out. Also included in the box is a text 'ARTIST INTERVIEWS HIMSELF' in Andre's handwriting and then printed as a facsimile. An important early item. this box is in exceptionally good condition particularly the transparent cover which is often cracked and split but not in this case.
