Set of 3 Artist Books held within a black card slipcase. Published in 1999, 2003 and 2012.
P.I.G. (Polynesian Instant Geography) is a collaboration between Dutch artists Berend Hoekstra and Hilarius Hofstede.
The artists made three large exhibitions in major European museums with an artist book publication with each show. They were the first Dutch artists to take on a complete museum in Paris since Cobra. Works by both Hoekstra and Hilarius are in several public collections, among which the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam.

The black cardboard cassette holds the three catalogues.

1) Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam (1999, publisher: Lecturis BV/Eindhoven).
2) Royal Museums Of Art & History Brussels (2003, publisher: Toohcsmi Uitgevers/Gent 2003).
3) Musée de la Chasse Paris (2012, publisher: Lecturis BV/ Eindhoven,).

These books were made in collaboration with each museum. There are only a very limited number of complete sets.

Wonderful artist books in which the artists create their own
world alongside the fascination Hofstede and Hoekstra hold for the art of Oceania and it's immediacy and arresting quality of it's work.

When Louise Bourgeois was told about the project she wrote back : "A lot of people are so obsessed by the past, they die of it. This is really the attitude of the poet who never finds the lost heaven, and it is really the situation of artists who work for a reason that nobody can quite grasp. Except that they might want to reconstruct something of the past. It is that the past for certain people has such a hold and such a beauty".
