Facsimile Edition authorised by the artist's estate of the experimental magazine which Flanagan was involved with from 1964-65. 'Silans' is the phonetic spelling of the French word, 'silence'. Silence and the absence of sound as a form of sculptural presence were concerns Flangan engaged with directly through this magazine. Whilst at St Martin's College of Art (attending the Advanced Sculpture Course) Flangan produced the magazines with cyclostyling in the office of the art school. It was circulated around the art school population and attempted to circulate concrete poetry as well as experimentation and enquiry. This facsimile of the complete run faithfully delivers the texture of the original. An important source in Concrete poetry and experimental sculpture of the 1960's.
